Why doesn't Clarion work off the DRZ9255?

That’s a damn good ? I have wondered the same thing myself. The DXZ775USD is pretty good and the 955MC before that. They need to go back to two separate lines like before Clarion Pro and Clarion. They have the technology its a shame that they don't use it more often.

That HU has to be the worst looking or one of the worst on the market.

They have done a horrible job trying to match the Alpine

Well apparently they don't feel high end audio is an important market segment. They do offer at least one nice CD head comparable to the 9255, unless it was discontinued for '07. We'll ALWAYS have ADDZEST.:D

I hate this thread. :( Every time I see it, I miss my HX-d10 with outboard processor.

Stolen the ONE day I leave the faceplate on it. (Because I ended up in the hospital.)

Man, I miss that HU. It was so awesome. if I ever believed in "hu sq" it'd be that one I'd say sounds the best of anything I'd ever owned.

Price and gimmicks.. It's a shame.. I agree, a mid-level little brother to the 9255 would be a beast.. Or how about this.... Why not at least an outboard dac/processor like the H701 that would work with any of their head units or a USB thumbdrive, controlled by the head unit via cenet?

The concept is nice..

SD cards to hold your tunes... small, cheap and easy to swap around and move files to.. solid state, etc.

Bluetooth.. Definitely nice.. I want, actually.

However.. finish the product... burr-brown dacs, SQ features.. active xovers, good eq, lots of preouts.. all time alignment and level controllable, etc... Make a deadhead version... But for Pete's sake.. shoooo that thing is Fugly! Who designs these things???? Yikes!

Makes me think though.. Those who actually buy head units..
What percentage are using external amps???

I have no use ever for internal head unit amps, personally.. If I'm going to the trouble of aftermarket, there's going to be some significant amps installed also. But that's me.

We need more dead-heads with good processing and preamp in place of crap-chip-amps, in my humble opinion.

Also, is it me or is there a HUUUUUUUGE gap between the 775 and 9255.. a void so big not even light escapes it. From $300 MSRP to $1200 MSRP.. uh... How about a nice $600 compromise???

.... eh, in 5-10 years you won't even be able to pull the radio without re-wiring half the car.

You know what we need...

A US company like B&K who builds fairly good hi-fi (not Krell or Levinson level but very very very good) and built like a tank bulletproof stuff.. They need to get into limited production but as affordable as possible dual and single din hi-fi oriented head units (player, processor, preamp).

They have the technology in their A/V units and players.. It's just a CD player, processor/eq, separate channel preamps.

And make it to LAST! Make it bulletproof and solid and serviceable.

That... I'd pay retail for.

Whata ya think... yeah?

I'm all for cd-less.. like the X001. One less thing to break.
If it can be coupled with good active processing like the H701 maybe.

Too bad Clarion's DVH940N or Pioneer's DEQ-P8000 don't have the crossover capability of the H701.. Would really boost both competitors DVD models for SQ system setups.

The 880 and the P9 are Pioneer's only active alternatives I guess.
Same for Clarion.. just the 9255 or the 775.
